Rachel Williams

Rachel Williams completed her undergraduate studies at Queen’s University, where she obtained an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree. After working in research and policy analysis at the University of Toronto’s Joint Centre for Bioethics, Rachel obtained her Juris Doctor from Osgoode Hall Law School.

Rachel articled at a boutique family law firm in York Region and has practiced exclusively in the area of family law since her call to the bar. Rachel has represented clients at the Ontario Court of Justice, Superior Court of Justice, and in appeals at the Social Benefits Tribunal. Rachel cofounded Morrison Williams Professional Corporation in 2017.

Rachel assists clients in all aspects of their family law matter, including negotiating, mediating, arbitrating, and litigating custody and access issues, and complex support and property matters. While Rachel regularly represents clients in high conflict and complicated matters, she believes that parties and children benefit from resolving matters outside of the Court process, and promotes client involvement in alternative dispute resolution processes such as mediation or Collaborative Family Law. Rachel is a member of the Peel Halton Collaborative Group and represents clients in the collaborative process.

Rachel ensures that she maintains a strong relationship with clients by maintaining communication, ensuring her clients understand their legal issues, and assisting clients in obtaining any additional supports they may need in the often life changing process that is a separation. Rachel works closely with her clients to understand their objectives and formulate a strategy for achieving their desired outcome. Rachel draws on aspects of her collaborative family law training in all matters to ensure that her clients are supported, and in a position to make reasoned and pragmatic decisions for themselves.
